Telehealth is an innovative program that makes Grow counseling services more accessible than ever before. This technology allows patients to see their providers from a distance by using a secure, internet-based, video platform that works on mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. Designed to improve and expand patient access to care, telehealth gives patients the ability to work with their provider in a way that meets their needs. By connecting the patient and provider through Grow’s secure platform, we are able to ensure that distance and personal obligations are no longer obstacles to better mental health.
Through this service, Grow is able to:
• Reduce the need for time off work and other obligations
• Reduce barriers to treatment, such as lack of transportation or the need for long drives
• Improve access to counseling and wellness services
• Reduce cancellations due to last-minute conflicts
• Improve continuity of care and follow-up
Telehealth Versus In-Person Care
Studies have shown telehealth for counseling and mental wellness is equivalent to in-person care in terms of accuracy of diagnosis, the effectiveness of treatment, quality of care, and patient satisfaction. That said, there may be differences in the experience of the appointment. At Grow, we see telehealth as a supplement to regular in-person care. We do conduct initial consultations via telehealth when clinically appropriate, but even for clients who use telehealth, we recommend continuing in-person visits at some regular interval determined individually with your provider.
