Clinical Therapist/Mental Performance Consultant (FT)

Grow Wellness Group is seeking a Licensed Therapist who is passionate about helping individuals unlock their full potential both in life and in performance. We are looking for someone who brings strong clinical skills, a deep appreciation for the unique challenges faced by athletes, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals in pursuit of excellence.

The ideal candidate has a background in sports, whether as a former athlete, coach, or professional who has worked closely with athletic populations, and is energized by the intersection of mental health and performance.

This unique role blends Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Mental Performance Consulting, providing opportunities to deliver individual therapy, mental skills training, team workshops, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
  • Provide individual therapy to adolescents and adults, including athletes, performers, and high-achieving individuals.
  • Conduct intake assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Support clients in addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, perfectionism, identity development, life transitions, trauma, relationship challenges, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of providers to deliver integrated, client-centered care.
Mental Performance Services
  • Provide mental performance coaching and mental skills training to athletes of all ages and competitive levels.
  • Support clients in areas such as confidence, focus, motivation, leadership development, resilience, emotional regulation, performance anxiety, and injury recovery.
  • Develop individualized mental performance plans and interventions
  • Facilitate team workshops, coach education sessions, presentations, and mental skills training programs.
  • Support community outreach efforts and contribute to the growth of Grow Sport Psychology programming and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Sport and Performance Psychology, or a related field.
  • Active clinical license (LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, or equivalent) required.
  • CMPC credential or active pursuit of CMPC certification, preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Background in sport performance or former athlete
  • Passion for working with athletes, performers, and high-achieving individuals.
  • Two or more years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred.
  • Full-Time is minimum of 25 clients per week with availability to work at least 2 weekday evenings and 1 weekend day.

Master's Level Sport Performance Psychology & Counseling Intern

Qualifications:

Master's Level student studying in the field of sport and performance psychology and counseling or social work program.

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated student intern to join our sport psychology team. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing hours to meet the requirements for Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) licensure. Interns will gain hands-on experience in mental performance coaching, conducting client sessions, and creating resources to enhance athlete performance and well-being. Candidates should have strong communication skills, a passion for working with athletes, and a foundation in psychological principles. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills under the supervision of experienced professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide direct individual counseling and mental skills training to youth and adult athletes
  • Participate in team meetings, activities and workshops
  • Develop, promote, and lead workshops and presentations to sport club organizations, schools and/or athletic teams
  • Conduct outreach to grow new business and foster referral relationships
  • Participate in professional development activities and trainings
  • Receive 2 hours of supervision per week
  • Hours can be applicable toward licensure requirements as specified by University Program and/or CMPC mentorship requirements
  • Other duties as assigned (e.g., content development, workbooks, online coaching resources, administrative activities, etc.)
  • Unconventional hours will be required

Flexibility:

We do not have a minimum hour requirement, but this will likely determine how much office space and the hours available compared to a team member who may be more full-time. We always do our best to work with each team member to find the best schedule for them so they can support their clients, while being supported with their needs outside of work. Lastly, during this time, we offer teletherapy options for all clinicians so they can operate in a fashion in which they are most comfortable during COVID.

Resources:

We cover the cost of all therapy resources to use with clients and to enrich – books, workbooks, play therapy materials, etc.
