In a groundbreaking partnership between the Grow Wellness Foundation, NFP, and Metea Valley High School, the Grow Forward Program has been introduced to foster holistic student development. This innovative initiative goes beyond traditional education boundaries, aiming to empower students, provide support to parents, and enhance the overall well-being of the entire student body.
Our program focuses on working closely with In-School Intervention (ISI) students with the facilitation of group sessions as well as one-on-one sessions. Group sessions are structured to provide essential skills such as executive functioning, mindfulness techniques, academic skill-building, and psychoeducation. The objective is not just to address immediate challenges but to equip students with life skills, fostering resilience, and enabling them to thrive in the face of adversity.
Therapists from Grow Wellness Foundation engage students in 1:1 sessions over six weeks. These sessions cover a spectrum of skills, including stress identification, emotional regulation, mindfulness, goal setting, and more. Notably, the program also extends its reach to parents, creating a wrap-around care approach to ensure comprehensive support for families.
The Grow Wellness Foundation will continue to work closely with Metea Valley staff to collaborate and understand the needs and impact potential of this program on their student body. In efforts to enhance our impact, a support group has been established comprised of eight female students. These students were selected by staff members as potential individuals that would benefit from this group focused on empowerment, support, and community.
The Grow Forward Program at Metea Valley High School represents a paradigm shift in education, emphasizing the importance of holistic student well-being. By addressing the diverse needs of students and their families, this partnership between Grow Wellness Foundation and Metea Valley High School is creating a transformative impact on the educational landscape, laying the foundation for empowered, resilient, and successful students. As a result, other schools across the district are taking notice of the immense impact potential this program can have on their students and are reaching out with interest in collaboration to bring services to their students.
