Cathy (she/her/hers) is an experienced counselor specializing in working with children and families dealing with grief, trauma, school refusal, ADHD, ASD, ODD, DMDD and various levels of anxiety and depression.

Cathy is a LMSW from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois in Chicago. I mainly work with children and their families. I am a mom of three boys and came from a family of ten children so I know how important family is to development and wellness. Previous to working with individuals and families, I volunteered in the community utilizing my community organization skills. For the past seven years, I worked in a school setting. Due to the many forms of childhood trauma, I have been certified as a Trauma Practitioner in Education and trained in restorative practices.

I have also been certified in Active Parenting, helping parents create a strength-based approach to discipline. I utilize evidenced-based practices and meet each individual where they are. I believe in looking at all factors that affect a child’s development, ensuring all resources of value can be utilized effectively. I have extensive experience working with children dealing with grief, trauma, school refusal, ADHD, ASD, ODD, DMDD and various levels of anxiety and depression.

I love working with children, teaching practical coping skills for managing impulse control and developing useful lifelong self-development practices, such as journaling and calming strategies that develops resiliency. My greatest joy is helping parents establish a loving relationship with their children so they can be their number one teacher/coach in life. My personal interests are playing games, art, physical fitness, and enjoying family time.
