I am Gina (she, her, hers) and I usually go by Gina. My education includes degrees in Psychology and Music Performance at the American University in Egypt and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in the Child sub-speciality at Benedictine University. I most typically work with clients ages 5+ on a range of challenges – depression, anxiety, social anxiety, behavioral challenges, ADHD, life transitions, first generation family and child challenges, and more.
I have always felt a calling to work in this field and have found that my personal experiences as well as diverse work experience have helped me refine my skills as a clinician over time. This has also made me truly interested in working with people from all walks of life and all age groups, particularly with young children.
My inclination towards working more with children has guided my interest towards providing expressive therapies such as play, music, art, pet-assisted, and sand tray therapy along with talk therapy to make the process more engaging and organic for my clients. Other modalities of therapy I like to incorporate are Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment, Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic approaches, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness. I’m also happy to provide therapy in English and/or Arabic.
I am very passionate about ending stigma around mental health, advocating for children, and making mental health services financially accessible to everyone. I have found that operating from a person-centered and trauma-informed approach speaks to my soul and helps me stay in alignment with my values of compassion, empathy, wisdom, and creativity.
In my free time I like to spend time with my family, my dog, and my friends. I also like to play music, travel, play badminton, read, and write poetry.
