
Veronica (she, her, hers) is a counselor with a M.S.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Illinois University. With a diverse background working with children, athletes, young adults, and adults, Veronica is committed to creating a compassionate, supportive, and client-centered environment for her clients, helping them navigate life's challenges and build emotional resilience.
Drawing from over 10 years of experience as a coach in cheerleading and gymnastics, as well as being a former Division 1 collegiate cheerleader, Veronica has a unique understanding of the pressures athletes face and the importance of mental well-being in high-performance environments. She works closely with athletes to foster mental resilience,focus, and confidence, while also supporting individuals in overcoming anxiety,depression, life transitions, and other challenges.
In addition to her work with athletes, Veronica has experience in a hospital setting, including working in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This has allowed her to gain invaluable insight into treating more acute mental health conditions, providing clients with intensive therapeutic support in a structured environment. This experience deepened her expertise in trauma-informed care and crisis management, enabling her to offer the right support for individuals facing severe emotional distress.
Veronica utilizes a variety a range of therapeutic techniques tailored to each client, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), strengths-based methods, and trauma-informed care. Her client-centered and holistic approach incorporates mindfulness and meditation practices to help clients develop emotional regulation, self-awareness, and coping skills, all within a nurturing and empathic framework.
Outside of her professional work, Veronica enjoys traveling, hiking, and staying active through regular workouts. She loves spending time outdoors with her husband and their Bernese Mountain Dog.
